Sponsor BFGoodrich has released a video showing ace rally driver David Higgins sliding his way to the new world record up Mount Washington at the 107-year-old Climb to the Clouds event in late June. Higgins obliterated the official record set by Frank Sprongel in 1998 by nearly 30 seconds. And as if that wasn’t enough he also beat Travis Pastrana’s unofficial time by almost nine seconds.
Higgins beat the official record by 20 seconds on his first attempt. On his second, he climbed the 7.6 mile tree- and cliff-lined road in six minutes 11.54 seconds — beating his first try by eight seconds. Higgins drove his Vermont SportsCar-prepped Subaru WRX STI rally car sans navigator up the New Hampshire road, which features a mix of pavement and gravel as it rises from 4618 feet to 6i45 feet above sea level.
Check out the video below of Higgins pre-race commentary and ride along with him as he shatters the record!
